Összeszedtünk néhány tipikus és folyton-folyvást előforduló angol nyelvtani hibát, amire jó, ha odafigyelünk. Neeem, az nem mentség, hogy olykor maguk az angol anyanyelvűek is elkövetik ezeket… Lássuk!

It`s vs. Its
it`s=it is; its=birtokos névmás
It`s going to be sunny tomorrow.
What’s that? I can’t remember its name.

Your vs. You`re
your=birtokos névmás; you`re=you are
Igen gyakori hiba, legfőképp a különböző közösségi média oldalakon lehet vele találkozni.
You`ve dropped your ticket!
You`re going to the garden party, aren’t you?
3.
Their vs. There vs. They`re
their=birtokos névmás; there=ott; they`re=they are
I went to their cottage last summer.
I haven’t been there before.
They`re the best friends ever!
4.
Too vs. Two vs. To
too=is; two=kettő, to= prepozició
“I think I`m going to the party.” “Yeah, me too.”
There were two puppies in the box.
The package was mailed to Mrs. Bundy yesterday.
5.
Lose vs. Loose
to lose something=elveszíteni valamit; loose=tág, bő
Don`t lose your patience!
These new pants are a bit loose.
6.
Than vs. Then
than=mint; then=majd, később, azután
She was happier than Jamie.
First, Luke is going to fix the spaceship, then he is going to pick Leia up.
7.
Whether vs. Weather
whether=vajon, akár; weather=időjárás
This weather is sunny.
We should find out whether the bookshop is open.
8.
Fewer vs. less
Gyakran előforduló hiba, még a szupermarketekben is sokszor tévesen írják (5 items or less). A less mennyiségre vonatkozik (megszámlálhatatlan), míg a fewer számra (megszámlálható).
5 items or fewer.
I got less sleep than you last night.
